Rat
On The Road was Roland's first outside
broadcast for TV-am. Roland and Kevin toured
the UK in the Ratmobile, visiting six cities
over the 1983 summer holidays. Starting in
Cardiff, they stayed in the grounds of the
castle. London was the next port of call where
Roland checked in to a posh hotel, but Kevin
made them camp in Trafalgar Square.
Up to Edinburgh after
that, where they met Rory McPherson and wore
kilts. Back down to Oxford the following
week taking in the University and Blenheim
Palace.
A week in the North East
followed, in Newcastle, where Kevin was
offered a part in the latest Sam
Spiegelbiegel blockbuster and got stuck in a
toilet at Beamish museum. The last
destination was York, where they dressed as
Vikings on the Roman Wall - but the
Ratmobile was driven away by the police!
The final week of Rat On
The Road saw Errol make his very first TV
appearance from the VT room.
