of all, thanks for doing another
interview with
Ratfans.com. How are you
and the rest of the gang?
Big hugs to all my beloved
ratfans from RATCAVE2 under the
Hollywood Sign California. All the
gang are fab 'ere in SOCAL, some
of 'em are still back in Blighty
with me Mum & Dad, but Kevin
and Errol are still Stateside.
Congratulations on
your 30 years in showbiz! Have you
thrown any lavish parties to
celebrate?
Hard to believe it's thirty
years, seems like only yesterday l
was sat on that breakfast sofa
insulting Angela Rippon and a host
of other stuck up celebs that
bored me to tears most of the
time! Of course we are not just
celebrating thirty years of my
marvelous career but also thirty
years of Breakfast
Television......thirty years of
mindless rubbish yeahhhhhhhh! We
had a few parties whilst back in
Blighty to celebrate and another
load when l flew into L.A. so we
are well and truly partied out in
the sewer.
Did you think you'd
still be loved by the masses 30
years on from when you started?
Course l did! Obvious innit
when you're a genie-arse, super
talent and legend like me it's
pretty certain you are going to be
adored and around for a VERY long
time.
After 30 years in the
world of showbiz, what's the best
thing you think you achieved and
what else would you like to
achieve in the next 30?
The best thing l achieved
was creating a loyal following of
fab ratfans around the world who
grew up with me, fell in love with
me (obviously) and still adore me
by keeping in touch online. Saving
TV-am was a great thing to do too
which l lowered myself to do of
course even though they eventually
lost the franchise, so l really
needn't have bothered!!
As for the next thirty
years there is SO much to do, a
new tv series in the U.S. (for the
UK of course) also ROLAND RAT THE
MOVIE, loads more merchandising
and the release of all the past
programs on DVD.
 When
you come back to visit the UK, are
you ever tempted to stay?
Whenever l fly back to
London of course l'm homesick,
l'll drive into the West End get
clamped, get three tickets a day
for driven' in a bus lane or
parking on the red route, forget
to pay the congestion charge or
the charge for just being alive in
central London. Oh yeah l miss all
that, that's English innit.
I love it when l arrive
back after a long flight, stumble
into Ratcave One feeling totally
jet lagged l race down to see my
lovely mum who's glued to the tv
watchin' Pointless and then she
tells me to come back later when
it's over. Charming.... l tell her
it's pointless but she misses the
lame joke.
So,
when you are back in the UK, which
celebrities (or old friends) do
you tend to visit the most?
Ironically l tend to see
more of my wonderful showbiz
friends in LA. than in London, cus
when l'm back l'm running around
like crazy trying to cram as much
in as possible work wise and l
want to spend any spare time time
with mum and dad yeahhhhh!
Errol was a bit of an
inventor, wasn't he? Has he come
up with any other "genius"
inventions recently?
Errol is still obsessed
with inventing anything out of
everything! Cus we're in America
he's invented a simulated leek
baseball bat made of plastic???
He's also designing a giant
Welsh woman in traditional costume
to rival the statue of Liberty,
she's holding a leek instead of a
torch. A leek burger and fries is
his perfect meal Stateside.
Being that you're an
'80s icon, what is you favourite
song, music artist, TV programme
and film from that era?
Of course my fave icon from
the 80's is myself, fave music is
my own, fave tv show mine....etc
TV
these days is made up of a lot of
reality TV shows, meaning that now
a lot of celebs are famous for
being famous. Do you think that
talent has become something of a
scarce resource?
Undoubtedly talent ain't
what it used to be, reality tv is
rubbish!!! l think it's time for a
"RAT'S LIFE REALITY TV' series
actually! That would be fab.
Would you consider
doing a collaboration album with
your No.1 Ratfans? Or how about a
Duets album? You could sing with
Madonna and Miley Cyrus!?
That's a good idea but it's
difficult enough getting meself
into the studio without
trying to collaborate with
anyone else.
Any new merchandise
planned? How's the next DVD
release progressing?
All merchandise releases
have been put on hold as l try and
sort the major move we undertook
earlier this year to Los Angeles .
Any news on album
iTunes releases and will we hear
your Christmas album this year?
Same applies to iTunes
releases including "COOL YULE' the
Xmas album.
You mentioned in a
previous interview about your
autobiography. How's that
progressing?
'RAT'S LIFE' the
autobiography is progressing well
but l'm also working on two other
projects at the same time so it
gets pushed to one side at times.
We know you like
Facebook and Twitter, but now
you're using Instagram too. It's
great looking at all those never
seen before pics. Have you thought
about creating your own YouTube
channel with exclusive new video
content?
An
exclusive YouTube channel is
something we are planning yes with
a lot of rare footage.
Wow! That sounds
great! Well, that's all we have
time for at the moment.
